Continental antique gilt embroidered brocade (170 x 92cm)

170 x 92 cm  //  5ft 7” x 3ft

Described to us as 'Swedish' seemed an unlikely attribution and one more likely to be Italian. The metal part is embroidered onto a twill brocade ground with parts of the brocade having lost colour and suffered from friction.

The piece has previously been hung horizontally as evidenced by small brass rings along one of the long edges - lined with a blue silk
